On October 9th, the symposium celebrating the 40th anniversary of China Confucius Foundation was held in Jinan.

Speakers at the symposium point out that China Confucius Foundation should firmly implement President Xi Jinping’s Cultural Thought and his instructions when inspecting work in Shandong province, that it should take on its mission, uphold integrity and innovation and forge ahead, trying its best to promote high-level academic research on Confucius and Confucianism, to build a system for inheriting traditional Chinese virtues, to promote the "two innovations" of excellent traditional Chinese culture, to practice global civilization initiatives, and to shoulder new cultural missions. The meeting also reached a conclusion that China Confucius Foundation should grasp the correct political direction and value orientation, develop and strengthen the foundation's strength, abidethe law, regulations, and charterof the organization, continuously create landmark achievements, and make new contributions to the overall development of the Party and the country's cultural undertakings.

At the symposium, appointment letters were presented to Chen Lai and RogerT. Ames, the first "Confucian Masters" from the Nishan World Centeron Confucian Studiesand China Confucius Foundation, and the plaque for the "China Confucius Foundation Global CivilizationalDialogue and Exchange Center" was unveiled.
